You’d think that the first time I tried to steek my knitted garment, I’d pick a smaller project. It’s just that one of the items for the collection I’m working on required a few steeks, and I figured, “It can’t be that hard!” It’s the theme to my knitting. Just do it.
It’s just yarn, there’s nothing to be afraid of.
Which is why this project has been laying there for a month, waiting for me to take out my scissors and make the cuts.
‘Cause I wasn’t scared or anything. I mean, what’s so scary about cutting up meticulously knitted color work? It’s just yarn…representing weeks of work.
David took this picture for me after the first big cut.
And that’s all you’ll see until the collection is released. I still need a title. I still have a few months to figure that out.

February 6, 2014 at 4:43 pmI have never heard the word “steek” before. It’s not even on google. 🙂 Anyway, I figured out what it was. That sweater is going to be so cool when it’s done!

February 10, 2014 at 2:39 pmThat’s so beautiful 🙂 Hello from Norway 🙂 I’ve been following your blog for a while. It’s nice to follow your life and your family. Of course I like the connection to Norway, but I love to read about your everyday life and your thoughts about life.
I’m a knitter as well and just about started to alter patterns and perhaps designing. As a Norwegian though I have a question: do you knit with circular needles (back and front of a sweater at the same time), or do you do it seperately? 🙂
Please excuse my bad grammar and spelling mistakes… I’m sure there are lot’s of them…
greetings from Rannveig 🙂
