Lover, not a Fighter

Uncategorized

Our Lena loves babies.  She’s 1/2 German Shepherd, so we thought she would make a terrific guard dog when we got her 5 years ago.  Alas, we learned very quickly that Lena is a lover, not a fighter.  She hides under the porch or behind one of us when any wild critter comes around.  Fortunately, Missy has no fear.  She’s a good guard dog.  She loves people too, but Missy is focused on her job.  Lena’s focused on her relationships.  We should have named them “Mary and Martha.”

Lena likes to snuggle.  She especially loves babies.  Elias was 6 months old when we got her, and every baby that has come through this house since has gotten contented snuggles with Lena.  She adores their touches, brings them bones, and looks for every opportunity to snuggle.

Ingrid is her current favorite.

She left only to sit in the sun for a bit, and licked and prodded Ingrid to come with.  Ingrid was only too happy to follow along, and move their play to the sun.

Oh yes, these 2 are good friends.

Lena looks just like our Zoey except she is blonde. 1/2 shepherd/ 1/2 lab. Your Lena has those lab ears like ours. Zoey is not a guard dog either and is very afraid of thunder.

I love how they snuggle so much!

Love it! We had so much fun with Lena when she was a pup and stayed with us a bit – I still don’t know whether we wore her out or she wore us out….she just looks wonderful here with Ingrid.

    Good, good dog.

We now have a small dog for the first time in our lives – less than 20#, chihuahua mix – an actual lap dog. Pretty much gets his way all day every day.
