It may sound busy around here, but I feel as though things are going as they should. I mean to say, it hasn’t been the stressful kind of busy. At least not yet. It is now May, and Knut has not put one seed in the ground yet. At this point last year, I’m fairly certain that planting was at least half done. Every year can’t be a stellar year like last year, but I do hope that the fields dry up soon, for Knut’s sake.
Solveig has slept horribly since the royal wedding. I felt like I was punished for getting up early to watch it because the following 2 nights she was up at least every hour and a half, and sleeping only when it was next to me in bed. I don’t mind her sleeping in bed with me, and nursing as much as she likes. However, I don’t sleep as well. I’ve been trying to move her into the pack n play in Silje’s room, since she’s really starting to get too big for her cradle in our room. She takes her naps in there now, but hasn’t slept well there at night. While brainstorming with Knut, we realized that maybe I wasn’t dressing her warm enough at night, since the wind can hit that wall the pack n play is against.
So, instead of the normal, onesie, sleeper, fleece swaddling blanket, and crocheted baby blanket for layers, she had a onesie, and over that a sleeper, and over that a fleece blanket sleeper, and over that a tight swaddle in a flannel blanket, and over that a crocheted baby blanket, and we added a knit hat. Basically, we added another layer and a hat, which all seems so ridiculous for a baby in May.
Well, it must have worked because after her midnight feeding, she slept in her bed in the Silje’s room (which should now be called ‘the girls’ room’) until 7am. It was heavenly sleep last night!
As for the weekend, I got to go out to camp to the Women’s retreat as Nerdy Gerdy Boutique was invited to their expo out there. I didn’t sell anything out there, but honestly, I rarely do at these sorts of events. I go because it’s fun to go, and I rarely need any excuse at all to go out to camp. Mostly because it’s spiritually impossible to go out to camp without having some encounter with God, even if you’re like me and didn’t even stay for a session.
A friend of mine, Candis, took pictures of me and the things in my booth out there and posted them on her blog. If you’d like to take a look, it’s over here.
After some very refreshing prayer time alone at camp, the following day on Sunday it was one of those church services that was just so powerful to the heart. So uplifting and full of praise. After going through such a “dry spell” of keeping faith, but feeling so dry, I feel like God has just been pouring it on lately. I’m feeling so blessed.
After church, Silje had her first and only choir concert of this year. (She’s the second in from the right.) She looked so nervous to me up there, which surprised me! I thought the choir did very well, though, considering the ages that it covered. She’s in the K-3rd grade choir, and there’s one more than twice as big that also performed at the concert that covers 4-6 grade. They were amazing.
Things will slow down now that homeschool group is done until fall, as well as choir and piano lessons. All of our outside activities are done and it’s only May! It’s probably a good thing, since our chickens are on their way, and our garden will need work. That is, if this snow will ever leave!
