I’ve been doing a bit of Spring cleaning, and as I’m going through cupboards I found an old jar that I used to put little tidbits about our life when I didn’t have time to write them in the baby books. I don’t do it anymore. Now I just blog. It’s fun, though, to see what I wrote down when Silje and David were so little during that crazy time when I had 2 kids 15 months a part and worried that the whole first year of David’s life would be a blur.

Silje calls raisins “Raa-Rees” and calls a spoon “boof.”
6-06
Silje was playing with a stone frog that had broken off a decorative statue at Grandma R.’s.  When Grandma playfully asked if it would bite her, Silje quickly threw it down with a scream and never went near it again.

At one of Lars’ basketball games I was teaching Silje to say “Go Otters!”  She kept saying “Go Raccoons” because she liked that better.
7-06
On a grouchy day, I asked Silje if she had a case of the “twos” to which she responded “my twos!” very angrily.

David can’t say the “f” sound.  He calls coffee “coppee” and loves to say the word “care-pul!”
7-06
The first time I put a band-aid on Silje she didn’t like it and kept insisting I take it off.

Silje thought that the bamboo shoots in her cashew chicken were band-aids and tried to put them all over her body.

Last weekend when Knut met with the other men on the farm to sort out if he would farm, we went down to the basement to pray all together.  While we were praying, Silje walked over, bowed her head and prayed with us.

David got his 4 month shots today.  Silje was cranky until they made David cry.  He was still crying when we were putting coats on.  Silje went over and kissed him several times and said “OK, David” until he stopped crying.’
There were a few more. The fun part about Spring cleaning might just be going through things you forgot were there.

May 3, 2011 at 4:11 pmI love these! All who have children probably relate. I just had one happen last week with Jack.
Me: Jack do you remember why you are in time out?
J: Because I was grumpy to you.
Me: That’s right. You need to tell me sorry and then give me a hug.
J: But Mommy, I just can’t say sorry. See…SSSo-go.
I don’t know…I thought it was hilarious. 🙂
