I put my design journal in the picture, because I am still mulling over, and haven’t cast on the little boy sweater that is still lying in there. I haven’t had the brain energy to start it.
To add to the pressure, I realized that the county fair is just a few tiny weeks away and I promised myself last year that I would submit some knitted item. I’ve never submitted something to the fair before, and as silly as it is, it’s an item on my “bucket list.” Last year I had an amazing pair of longies to submit, but forgot to remove the picture of them from my store, and they sold the day before I was supposed to submit them.
So I’m not sure if I have time to finish a sweater before the fair, and I must submit something and not put it off another year. I’m wondering if I should whip up a pair of these fingerless mitts for myself with some leftover yarn I have from Christmas presents. I have wanted to make them for myself for awhile, although I’ve never had fingerless mitts before and don’t know if I would use them. I want them though, and think they’re cute, and have the softest yarn to make them with on hand.
Hopefully they’ll be a quick project, and I can put for the energy to make them flawless for the judging. I’ve been waivering too long in thinking up my next project and my fingers have been itching to knit and my mind has had trouble settling on a project.
Next week, though, there should be something to show besides a journal of “someday” projects.

I’m so glad that you took some time to do something nice for yourself, even if it was just to finally start reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.
I hope you do enter something in the county fair. Good luck!

July 6, 2011 at 12:50 pmI love, love, love that book. I have seen the movie many times and each time I watch it I cry and gain some more insight. I also grew up in an alcoholic home in an apartment building in the middle of a large city, so maybe that is why it is meaningful. I hope you enjoy the book and Happy Anniversary! You have a wonderful family.

Find something to submit to the fair, I’ve always wanted to too.
