Yarn Along

knitting, sewing

Keeping busy…as usual.  I started the Milo vest for Silje to match Solveig’s for Christmas.  While I was working on it, I realized that there was another project for Silje that has been neglected, thus the added quilt in the background in this picture.  It has slowed progress on the Milo vest significantly, but I was hoping to have this hand pieced quilt ready to quilt this winter (hopefully with help!)  When I started this quilt, I joked that it wouldn’t get finished until Silje was 8.  Now I’m hoping that it will actually get done!
The vest looks big, and I have a strange suspicion that’s because Silje is getting big.  She’s turning 7 in a few days, and lately everything I make her looks huge to me.  Then I stick it on her and it fits.  It’s the strangest thing…
I’m still reading Chesterton, but he wasn’t within reach for the picture.  I’ve been reading snippets of Loving the Little Years, which I am really enjoying.  The chapters are really short and easy to dive into, so I’ve been able to read a chapter in 5 minutes and move on with my day.  Also, we’re going through the Keeping Chickens book multiple times a day.  I feel silly feeling nervous about them moving into the coop this week.  Pretty soon we’ll see them pecking all around the yard.

Oh, I love that quilt! I want to do a bed-sized quilt for Asher at some point – soon, I think, since he’ll be in a bed come this winter, so he’ll need one sooner than “in a few years”! – but I haven’t had the time. I think I’ll dive into it after we get back from the cottage in July…

Loving the Milo vest. I have three more to cast on before the fall – two new baby gifts and one bigger one for Julia. xo

Beautiful quilt–the colors, the pattern and piecing.

My daughter and son-in-law just obtained chicks this spring and have moved them into a portable coop. I have found a blog that families raising chickens often link up with.

    It is: http://homesteadrevival.blogspot.com
