Lake Season

family

When I used to live in Arizona growing up, everyone either had a pool or had a neighbor with a pool.  Here, everyone either has a lake cabin, or knows someone with a lake cabin.  Knut’s grandparents have a lake cabin that a lot of the family visits nearly every Sunday throughout the summer.  Since it was so hot earlier this week, Knut’s mom, the kids and I took a quick mid-week jaunt over there, and all cooled off in the lake.

It was Solveig’s first time out at the lake, and I think she liked it.  I’ve realized how less fussy I have gotten as a mom now that I have 4.  I fed this little lady until she fell asleep, and simply laid her on a towel on the grass for her nap while the rest of us just lounged around.  I figure unless she’s going to crawl away, why bring the pack n play?

It was her first time being in the lake.  Our other kids screamed the first time they touched the cold water when they were babies.  She just stared, and thought about it.  As you can tell from our picture, our toddler who was still in the screaming phase last year enjoyed getting his feet wet this year.

He’s looking huge these days.

They got plenty of sunblock, but David must have readjusted his suit because he got a light burn line by his waist.  Something to think about this summer…

I just can’t get enough of this!

Solveig is wearing such a cute swimming suit! How fun to go to the lake. Hopefully not too many mosquito bites. 🙂 Can hardly wait to see you!

I just saw your blog on a Facebook post and I have read a ton of your posts. I live in Orange County, CA, a totally different kind of life, but reading about yours is kind of refreshing 🙂 Keep writing, I love it! My daughterjust turned 7 and loves reading, too. It seems like our girls are similar! I wish I had more patience to teach her things myself (she goes to public school). I admire your hard work.
