Taking Care of Business

cloth diapers

First off, the winner of the sewing set, chosen by random.org, is …
#32!  If you look that up, the 32nd comment was: Annalise!  You can check out her blog at www.sweetannas.com.  FYI, be careful about getting addicted to her recipes.  She has these brownies on her site that has ruined Knut and I from ever enjoying the box kind ever again.

Second, let me show off the most recent diaper custom order now in transit to it’s new home:

The customer told me to pick an assortment of gender neutral colors, so I tried to get a good mix of soft and bold colors, just to make sure all my bases were covered.  I think it turned into quite the rainbow!  I’ll have a picture below showing all of the snap colors I picked to go with these.

This was my first custom diaper order since Solveig was born, and I’m surprised how good it feels to be back at it.  I’ve been reorganizing Nerdy Gerdy Boutique now that I’ve been in business for a year.  I feel like I have a better idea about what sells, and what I enjoy doing best, and how much time I have available.

So I’ve been simplifying and now I’m only offering pocket diapers now, instead of the variety of “modern” diapers, and I’ve tweeked the leg openings a bit by casing the Lastin (elastic).  I think it has a cleaner, neater look to it.  Also, instead of contoured inserts, I’m selling unbleached indian prefolds in 2 sizes to stuff inside the diaper.  The infant size prefold will be the main insert, and the smaller preemie sized prefold will act as a booster for nighttime or a heavy wetter.  I personally prefer prefolds as inserts, although I think both contoured and prefold inserts work well.  This just suits my preference, which I feel more confident recommending, as well as simplifies my business.  Simplicity is a beautiful thing, don’t you think?

Also, to allow myself time for more creative sewing for the store, and my family, I’ll be offering only one custom diaper package of a dozen diapers per month instead of a full (20 diapers) and partial (10 diapers) stash per month through custom ordering.

There will be no slot in my store for a custom slot for April to allow me time to finish Sile’s Easter dress, and restock the store as I’ve recently been bought out of most of my in stock products.

So the next custom package will be for the month of May, and that listing in my store is here.  It will just have to be first come, first serve.  If no one takes it, then I’ll just have that much more design time!

Thank you to everyone that entered the giveaway!  It was really fun!
