I’m nearly done with the body of my Pomme de Pin cardigan. The lace pattern is so easy to memorize and follow that knitting this has been a breeze. I’m a little worried how accurate my measurements are with this stretchy lace for the arm holes. That’s one of the reasons I get nervous knitting a bottom up, set in sleeve sweater. I feel like I have to be more accurate and can’t wing it as much. So we’ll see soon!
I’m loving the color of this yarn though! It’s Madelinetosh pashmina in “Norway Spruce.” It’s simply the most enjoyable knit I’ve had in a year or two.
I have been reading about 5 books at one time the last few months, and as I’ve finished up a few of them now, I’m focusing on finishing Age of Opportunity which continues to be just so encouraging and practical as our kids are getting on the edge of adolescence. I’m learning so much about teen development, on a spiritual and emotional level. I’m learning which things are normal, and which things are concerns, and refining what my goals are as a parent. (We always try to accomplish things that are not in our jurisdiction, right?) Simply put, I plan on reading this one a few times. It’s been very helpful.
Also, I’ve been listening to Les Mis on Audible while I knit or spin these days. I’m loving listening to classics while I craft these days, and I can’t believe I haven’t read this one yet. It’s amazing. Knut is listening to it too while he is at work in the fields, and so he’s way ahead of me in the book.

April 20, 2016 at 4:29 pmAlso reading a bunch of books at once… The Bone Clocks and The Man in the High Castle for fiction, God’s Love and a commentary on Galatians for non-fiction. I’m knitting socks and a baby blanket for my second (due at the end of June!), and this morning I decided what I really needed to do was start a new sweater for me. Oops.

I really admire how you try to learn about each stage of your kid’s lives and help parent them to best way you know how and that you want to learn more. God bless you and your family !

April 20, 2016 at 7:33 pmI’m reading “Freedom of Simplicity, Finding Harmony in a Complex World” by Richard J. Foster. It’s one of those books that one needs to read slowly. It’s very meaty.
At our women’s retreat last week I heard a women talking about her 3 year old as a “threenager”, and I thought of Ingrid. 🙂 It’s never a dull moment when you have a pre-teenager on one end of the spectrum and a “threenager” on the other end! I’m glad you get a chance to knit and read/listen to audio every so often!

April 21, 2016 at 2:04 amI’m knitting a stranded cardigan for my sister: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/LauraBethEliza/blue-diamonds
I’m reading Cold Case Christianity (pretty interesting), Bleak House (sporadically), Sense and Sensibility (need to get back to it), and A Body of Doctrinal and Practical Divinity (also need to get back to it).
Has Silje read Tuck Everlasting? I’d recommend it to her if she hasn’t 🙂 I guess technically it’s a book for younger kids around her age, but I loved it so much that I read it in one day last year (don’t watch the movies, both of them are really stupid and do the book no justice).

April 21, 2016 at 11:22 amLove the cardigan. My goal is to knit a sweater sometime in the future… I started a hitofude and it’s been languishing in it’s project bag for awhile now. One of my favorite times of the day is when my boys and I curl up to listen to a audiobook (Your Story Hour from audible are excellent-dramatized biographies, Bible stories, and stories of interesting people) and I can spin or knit.
I also enjoy classics on audiobook- listened to a dramatized (different voices) version of Jane Eyre from librivox and loved it. I will have to try Les Mis.
