Happy New Year, friends! We decided to be boring last night and put the kids to bed and stay home. We didn’t want to risk staying up and turning the tide of feeling healthier for a few hours. Knut and I watched a few minutes of Times Square on t.v. before going to bed. We are so out of touch with pop culture, it’s crazy.
I did read a bit more from Caddie Woodlawn which is my latest read. I have always wanted to read it, so a week ago or so I picked it up off of Silje’s school shelf and thought “better late than never!”
It’s a completely charming book. I highly recommend.
Right now I’m finishing up some fingerless mitts requested by my sister in law for her birthday. We were sick for the party, so these mitts are late and she knows there’s coming. I was knitting right on time, too! I hate sickness delays. She’s a photographer, and needed some warmer hands for cold photoshoots. I picked my friend, Alicia Plummer’s pattern Raw Honey because I’ve always loved the look of it.
Linking up with Ginny’s Yarn Along again!

January 1, 2014 at 6:12 pmWe were boring too.. put the kids to bed at the usual time, watched It’s A Wonderful Life, and then watched a few minutes of the Seattle Space Needle fireworks display (caught a minute of the Times Square show and was thoroughly disenchanted).
I keep eyeing Caddie Woodlawn on my shelf too, never have read it either. Maybe this year is the year!

January 1, 2014 at 6:41 pmHi! I LOVE your blog!!! We are totally out of it when it comes to pop culture, but it’s all such garbage, we’re not missing anything! I’m looking forward to reading Caddie Woodlawn this summer with my daughter who will be 8!
Happy New Year and glad to hear that everyone is feeling better 🙂

January 1, 2014 at 8:16 pmMy husband and I relish in being ‘boring’ 🙂 It’s fun and rather ‘counter-cultural’ now days 😉 Nice knitting; sorry you all were under the weather; lots of people are; wise to not push it when just getting better!
