Green Gables – A GIVEAWAY

Uncategorized

***WINNER***
THE WINNER OF THE GIVEAWAY IS…(drumroll)…
“Nook” !!!  I’ll be contacting you today to get your address to forward onto Joanna.  Congratulations!

I’m fairly certain that I’m not the only “Anne of Green Gables” junkie out there.  In fact, it’s what Silje has been reading these past few weeks.

(Sorry for the blurry picture.  I was trying to be sneaky.)

So when I found out that Joanna Johnson had published a book of knitting patterns that are all about Anne, I was so excited.  Well, first I was a twinge jealous I had not thought of it first.  Then I just had to get my hands on it.

Joanna was nice enough to send me out a copy to review, which was even more exciting.  The photographs in here are beautiful.  My favorite might be that she got permission to print photographs from L.M. Montgomery’s own collection.  Plus the quotes from the book are just so spot on, and give insight to her design process for each of the knits.

My favorite (and I know I’m not alone in this!) is “Anne’s Sweater” because not only could I imagine Anne wearing it, I could imagine myself wearing it as well.  I love the little pocket, and I love that it doesn’t have puffed sleeves, because we all know Marilla would not have wasted any yarn on such frivolousness.

Designs are inspired by each character:
Anne’s Carpet Bag
Matthew’s Vest (which might be my second favorite)
Marilla’s Apron
Diana’s Hat
Rachel’s Table Runner
Miss Stacy’s Shawl
Gilbert’s Scarf
In all, there are 7 designs in this beautiful collection, and I feel so lucky to have it.
Joanna’s generosity does not stop there, though.  She has offered to GIVEAWAY a copy of this collection to one of my readers as well!  So leave a comment in this post, letting me know what your favorite pattern in this collection is!  You can see all the projects here to make your choice.  The winner will be picked at random, and Joanna will send a copy out to you, so make sure to leave an email for contact information.  I’ll leave the comments open until Friday, December 6, but it’s best to do it now so that you don’t forget!

Had no idea there was a knitting collection! Something I might have to ask Santa for. I always have been a fan of Anne and all the stories. I hope to pass that love onto my daughter.

I have a special place in my heart for the Anne of Green Gables books. They are some of my favorite books from my childhood, and I re-read them regularly as an adult!

So Anne’s sweater is totally the best, but I’m not sure I’d have the patience to make it. So I’m voting for Miss Stacey’s shawl!

    Gilbert’s Scarf won my heart.

I’m actually rereading “Anne’s House of Dreams” right now. It’s a lovely one to revisit, and I’m pretty sure it’s the reason I’m convinced I’ve lived by the sea, even though I’m a prairie girl!
