Well, we were supposed to be camping right now, but Knut got a pretty bad cold. We both thought that if he were to spend an evening in the cold air, he could easily be sick for days. So we decided to stay home, and just make a small day trip to the lake to be with the family. Knut’s parents were nice enough to take Silje and David along in their tent, though for the full overnight. I was so relieved that they didn’t have to miss out.
So here it goes:
-I’m blessed that Knut has a cold so I don’t have to sleep in a tent with a baby and toddler who don’t sleep well in tents, or cabins, or any place where people speak past 8pm. (did I just type that outloud?)
-I’m blessed that both Knut and I have extended family that we get to see and enjoy often. I’m blessed with their generosity all the time.
-I’m blessed that we live in a country where we’re free to homeschool our children. We start again tomorrow. I’m looking forward to the routine like you wouldn’t believe.
-I’m blessed that our big garden is nearly done for the year. Asparagus, peas, strawberries, edamame, and broccoli are all done. Hurray! Only the green beans, tomatoes, beets and cucumber are still going. Well, I’m not eating any more cucumber and no one seems to want it so I’ve been chopping them up and feeding them to our chickens since they seem to like them. Which leaves the green beans and tomatoes, and there are still a few beets left in the ground. I’m so thankful for a full freezer. I’m so ready to stop preserving and start eating.
-I’m blessed to still have pumpkin in the freezer from last year. I have enough pumpkin to keep me baking so that my kitchen will not need a fall scented candle for years to come.
-It may sound silly, but I’m so blessed to still be breastfeeding Solveig. She’s on the move all the time now and I really enjoy those times when it’s just the two of us being still. She’s also “talking” all the time and I just love our “conversations.” She’s a hoot. She’s also doing this “really exicted” face whenever someone she likes looks right at her. It’s so funny.
-I’m blessed to have ice cream in my life. There’s not much more to be said about that.
