Falling Behind

family, knitting

Well, I feel like I’m falling behind today in about everything. Silje’s sweater is put together, as you can see, but I have not yet woven in all the strings, or put on the buttons. But I thought I would shoot some pictures while the lighting was good. Most likely this won’t get completely finished until after the kids go to bed tonight.

Still, I’m pleased with it.

I used Babyboo brand yarn, which is 45% bamboo and 55% nylon, so it is an incredibly soft sweater. The color I used was “hot pink.” How very Silje. The pattern was sweater “H” from the Sidar book “Little Kisses” which is a pattern I found on ravelry, and ordered from the UK. I have come to find out that ordering patterns from England and having them shipped over is actually cheaper than buying less cool ones here in the states. Who knew? What I like about this particular pattern book is the sweaters can all be made in sizes from birth to 7 years old. It gives the patterns much more “life” to them.

Today is floor washing day, and boy do my floors need it! I hope to get to it! I’m behind on my dishes, behind on my laundry, and behind on about everything in general. It doesn’t help much that Knut is working on the house, and quite often pulls me aside to ask what I think about this or that. Nor does it help that the kids constantly want to be with him when he’s here, and he can’t get anything done when they’re like that.

David is the only one napping now. Elias is pretty close to being asleep. He’s been constantly on the move, and is never satisfied in one spot for long anymore. Even when I’m holding him, he’s kicking his legs, and trying to reach for something. His body is kicking or waving, or “dancing” at all times now, and sometimes going places.

He’s eating more and more, and I haven’t been able to keep up with him. I was noticing that he was starting to scream after I fed him, and so I talked with a lactation consultant around here, and we decided together that he might like one bottle of formula a day, and she gave me some great tips to up my supply in the mean time. Well, so far my supply has gotten much much better, and he eats more and longer, and more often, and he still gets a bottle, and sometimes 2 a day. He’s eating more baby food now than he’s ever eaten before, and eats off of our plates as well. He’s constantly wanting food, whether milk from me, formula from a bottle, food from a spoon, pieces of bread, or handfuls of Cheerios. He has been unable to satisfy lately.

So Elias has been keeping me busy too!

And tomorrow is the big school day. I’ve been going over old pictures of Silje, and trying to keep myself from crying throughout the day as well.

Life is definitely starting to move too fast.

Did you not just START that sweater? And it’s almost ready to wear? It’s darling and you are amazing. And to think you’re behind on the floor.. When do you rest, woman?
