Let’s start out with what you all want to see. Not the kids, not the family…the pies.
Our 4th of July celebration is famous for its pie table. This year was no disappointment!

The pot luck wasn’t too shabby either!
But for this sort of event, an ordinary plate wouldn’t do. This is a tray sort of event.

But onto the children! Here’s Elias studying Trygvie’s little bits of cereal here, wondering if he can reach out and grab one. Trygvie, Elias’ second cousin, is next to him, and to the Left is Lena (I know, not our Lena, obviously) who I believe is Elias and Trygvie’s thrid cousin, visiting from none other than Mesa, AZ. Ironically, where my cousins were visiting from as well!
I wish our camera hadn’t run out of batteries, because there were so many amazing Silje moments that were not caught…like when she had a mouth full of watermelon, and ate “lots and lots!”

And here’s the kids playing on what little beach there is this year with their Uncle Lars. Yes, he has grown up, hasn’t he?
With no naps, and non-stop water fun, the kids were pretty pooped at the end of the day, and in fact, really showed signs of FIC (Fatigue Induced Crankiness) yesterday. Today is still yet to be determined.
And look who’s doing pretty darn good at sitting up? He’s not very stable yet, but he’s doing pretty good!
And just because I’m sure they’re mother would love to see pictures of them at work at our house:
Here’s 3 of my cousins working with Knut yesterday.
These “volunteers” helped Knut clean out some rocks by the side of our house. They dug out all the rocks, raked the rocks from the dirt, and then put the rocks back, without the dirt. Knut said it would probably take him 6 hours by himself, but with 3 boys helping, it would be a breeze. Turns out some of the rocks were pretty set in, and it took the 4 of the from 8am to noon, and then again from 3pm-ish to supper time. Knut was so impressed by the end of the day that he never heard one complaint come from them, and each one of them worked so hard, with a good spirit. He keeps telling me to remind him to ask their parents at the reunion what they did, because he hopes our kids turn out as well as these. “Why didn’t you tell me your cousins were so nice?” He asked me.
Well, they may have had an easy time yesterday with Knut, but today they are weeding gardens with me…mmmbbbwwwwhhhaaahhhaaahhhaa (I don’t know, does that spell out evil laugh?) Right after they have some coffee cake that I made them for breakfast. I think Lena is waking them up as we speak…
