family, house stuff

I haven’t posted pictures in a few days, have I?

Silje and David spend so much of their day playing outside, and David really doesn’t let this red wagon out of his sight. On this day, Silje was pretending that she was the mommy, and David was the daddy, and they packed up their “car” and headed over to “Brooklyn’s house” for a party. (Can you tell they REALLY liked the class open house reunion at the Berge’s?) The summer kitchen (shed) became Brooklyn’s house, and they would “drive” there over and over again.

And last weekend we celebrated Knut’s grandpa’s 87th birthday!

Here’s Great-grandpa with 2 little great-grandsons, Isaac and Elias, born a week apart.

Grandpa and Silje, with her hair done in looped braids special for the party. We had cake AND pie. Now that’s a party!

David counted the candles for Great-grandpa. 8 on one and 7 on the other.

David and his cousin Kaeden trying to be patient for their peice.

And here’s Elias trying to figure out the camera.

Yeah, you almost have it!

And well, I had to do SOMETHING while my sewing machine was at the spa. Remember Knut doing this for me? (the last picture) Well, I finally got around to doing some calligraphy on the wall. I mismanaged my space, so the last 2 words “get up.” won’t fit, so I’ll have to put them on the same line underneath with the reference. I’ll make it work so it will look nice. Knut just has to put on one more pencil line for me, and when I finish and it’s all done, I’ll erase the pencil lines, and this wall will be done. I worked on this all evening last night after the kids went to bed, instead of watching t.v. or sewing, which is what I would normally do. 3 hours last night, and 2 hours this morning, with Silje’s help.

We had talked about having a verse on the wall here, and I really thought about what I wanted in this particular area of the house. It’s by the back door, that leads to the garage. It’s right above the stairs to the basement and office. It’s in the hallway that connects the stairway, the kitchen, my sewing room, and the downstairs bathroom. I wanted to put something there that would be meaningful as we were coming and going, and rushing out the door, and headed down to the play room, or for a nap on the couches downstairs. Something to remember when I’m hauling in groceries, or taking the dog out. As I searched, I realized that there is a verse talking about teaching your children in everyday life to love the Lord, as you come and go, sit and lie down. Since the reference isn’t done, I’ll tell you this passage can be found in Deut. 6. A bigger chunk of this passage is found on the doorframes of Jewish home and called a mezuzah...I think. Interesting…huh?
