Well, the snow is about gone now, although I have some great pictures to share when it was melting. First I had to show a picture here of David, who saw me fiddling with the camera as he was reading books, and very seriously told me he was going to make a funny face for the camera. I gave him his chance, and here is his funniest face:
Speaking of funny things our kids do, Silje had another accident in her bed this morning, around 7am, so she barely didn’t make it. Knut had a long talk with her as he cleaned her up about keeping her bed dry. I was sleeping still (did I mention I love my husband?) so I didn’t hear the whole discussion. What I did hear, was her getting up from her nap later that day. I waited for her at the bottom of the stairs, while she used the bathroom before coming down. When she got down, I asked her “did you wake up?” She replied very matter of fact: “Yes, I recognized that I needed to go potty, so I got up before I had an accident.” Yes, my 3 year old used the word “recognized” in a normal sentence. Okay, so I’m kinda like a mom who’s just bragging how smart her child is, but if you didn’t want to read that, you wouldn’t be on my blog 😉
To move on, here is Knut and Silje starting a ball for their snowman this last week. As you’ll notice, the grass is so green around them, as it was before the snow covered it. (To all my southern relatives, I point this out because usually grass is brown under snow.)
David wasn’t as much interested in making a ball to just set on the ground, he just wanted to throw some snow balls.
Here Silje is rounding out the middle ball of the snowman. Right behind her head, you can see my tulips, triumphing through the snow!
And here are the 3 hard workers, proud of their handsome snowman. Silje and David handpicked the stones and Mommy grabbed a carrot and scarf. It took up most of the snow left in the yard, but it was worth it.
Unfortunately, this was how I found their snowman, the very next morning. Nearly 60 degree weather and some wind, he lost his face…well, his whole head actually. He didn’t suffer long though. The picture below was taken in the evening, and by sundown, he had left us completely.
During the snowy weekend however, our friends from Fargo, Todd and Jessica, came for a visit, and brought their kids. Knut has known Todd since birth, actually. Their mothers shared a room in the hospital, as they were born on the same day. The families have been close ever since, and have been hoping that one day the families would be joined in a more formal way. Since Knut and Todd’s siblings never even dated as their parents have hoped, Knut and Todd have promised their own children to each other. Behold! Silje’s betrothed, Matthew:
She’s reading a story to him, which he seemed deeply interested in. Well, we’ll do our best with the kids. If it doesn’t work out with Silje and Matthew, they have a daughter, Abby, who is just a little bit younger than David…
