Number 3 on the way!

Well, we had a fun time this weekend calling parents, grandparents, and siblings, to make our announcement about our next kid on the way. We are expecting our next child, which is due December 13th. The news was especially overwhelming to Knut’s side of the family, because this will be the 3rd great-grandchild on the way THIS YEAR for each of Knut’s grandparents. We teased Knut’s Grandma Madsen about her response to the news, which was: “Good Grief!”

How did the kids take the news? Well we made them a cake to celebrate our news, and called them to the table last friday. After we told them Mommy had a baby growing in her tummy, Silje’s mind went into planning mode. Her response was something like this:

“A new baby! You know, the baby could use my old bottles that I don’t use anymore, and I have clothes that don’t fit me anymore, that the baby could use, and I need to go through my toys and find some toys that are just for babies. Is it a baby boy or a baby girl? Because if it’s a girl, she can stay in my room, and if it’s a boy, he can stay in David’s room. When can the baby come out?”

David’s response was something like this:
“I want cake!”

So even though I don’t think David has any idea what’s going on in his family, he’ll figure it out, and I’m confident he will be a good big brother. Silje’s already a great big sister, and I’m sure she will continue on that trend, although, sometimes I think she thinks she is the mom.
