So, this long-awaited summer knitting project is complete.  I’m completely smitten with it.  This was a labor of love for a friend I have been praying for this summer.  I really hope she loves it.  I very, very rarely knit for other people, unless they are my children.

The yarn was Madelinetosh Prairie in the color way “fragrant.”  It has been in my stash for over a year now, and when she said that rose was one of her favorite colors, I spent a good deal of time trying to decide if this pink was a rose.  After consulting a few people, I decided it may work.  I was excited because this is a really fun yarn.  It is silky soft, with a lot of loft, and has this gorgeous variegation that makes these long stockinette projects delightful.

Now, I asked Knut to take these pictures off the cuff because the lighting was decent outside, (perfect overcast), even though I had no make up on, or was “people/town ready” by any means.  I quick pulled my crazy humidity-inflicted hair in a pony, and changed into my town jeans from my awful gardening shorts.  So you get what you get people.

Honestly, if when I make one of these for myself, I will wear it often like this, cozied up with a book by the fire.  It’s actually so thin, and decently warm yet very breathable (being 100% gorgeous wool) I would wear it like this under my winter coat often.  Because when it’s 30 degrees below zero in wintertime, I will wear wool layers, and I will wear lots of them.  On the other hand, it’s so light and airy I’d bring this little wrap out to the lake anytime for when it gets a little cool late at night on the pontoon.

Ok, this is actually when we started the photo shoot.  The wind was blowing, and I lifted the shawl up and pretended I was Audrey Hepburn in “Funny Face” shouting out to Fred Astaire as she leaves the opera house: “Take the picture!  Take the picture!!”  I had her accent down and everything.

Ahem.  Glad I put my town jeans on for that little reenactment.
