I’m Blessed

Blessings

Here’s Ingrid eating in her honored seat.  She’s such a little birdie.  She loves having Daddy’s breakfast, but she eats so much.  So now she gets a bowl of granola and yogurt, a bowl of oatmeal, and then she’s allowed to sit on Daddy’s lap where she eats too much of his eggs.

I’ve been so blessed this week as I’ve started a Bible study with one of my friends.  I jumped at the chance, as much as our crazy schedule this year allows me to jump.  She’s been flexible enough to agree to meet weekly, but the day will depend on the weather.  Worst case scenario, we can try to do our discussion with all of our kids playing around.  At any rate, I’m over the top grateful for this friend. I find myself saying things to her that I don’t usually say out loud.  Really, deep, honest things.  It’s been just an incredible blessing to have her in my life.  Living out our faith is much more of a community activity than we independent Americans would like to admit.

Also, I’m thankful for the opportunity for David to go to camp this week.  It’s such an amazing experience there, and this will be his 3rd summer.  We get to pick him up later on this week, but in the meantime, he gets to swim, kayak, climb rock walls and do an adventure course, as well working out his faith as well.  Hopefully he’ll make some good friends as well.  The first year we dropped him off for a few days, we asked if he made any friends.  He said he played with a lot of people.  I asked what there names were, and he said, “I never asked.”  So in following years, we’ve been working on stressing the importance of learning people’s names and using them.

I digress.

I was crazy-blessed by Knut who literally spent the whole day on Saturday, hunched over and working in my garden.  He picked out every last weed.  As I’ve been limping along with my gardening, working at a snail’s pace for 2 hours every morning, I’ve been fighting off feeling depressed that I have to be so careful, and just an overall impatience that my neck is not fully healed, and when on EARTH will it be healed, and this is just taking so long!!  Why is it taking so long?

So I’m stubbornly weeding, and seeing that they’re growing faster than I’m getting them.  It was just nice to have this experienced guy spend 10 hours or so on it and make it beautiful.  He loves me.  I’m blessed.

Hi Gretchen, I know you are using chiropractic, but you may want to ask about/reasearch “corrective chiropractic” care. There is a group called Maximized Living and these doctors use various other techniques to restore the spine to its original curvature, such as traction, foam shapers to sleep on, and home exercises/therapies. I Googled and there is one in Fargo that may be able to answer some questions. You may be able to see your regular chiro and get some ideas for home therapy from this one.

I see one in the Twin Cities and love the results, although my doc is extremely enthusiastic about it to the point that it feels sales-pitchy which was a turn-off for me initially. You’ll have to decide for yourself, but it is different than traditional chiropractic and may help get the results you’re looking for.

All the best to you, as always.

What a wonderful blessing, indeed! (Both your friend and your husband!) What are you studying together?
