Knitting like crazy over here. Worsted weight sweaters in Fall-ish colors when Fall is nearly upon us is pretty perfect. I’m continuing on a Nanook cardigan for me. I’ve been wanting to knit the pattern since the second it came out, and it is not disappointing me at all. This little mental break from designing has been just what I’ve needed.
I had to sneak pictures in of my finished embroidery project. It’s counted cross stitch on this pretty gray linen. I loved it so much that I’m already planning my next project(s) designed by Alicia Paulson. It’s simple and pretty. It doesn’t get much better than that. Although I can’t seem to get it in the frame as smoothly as I’d like, but Alicia has a tutorial on how to do that on her blog, which I probably should have looked at first.
I’m finishing up the last chapter of One Thousand Gifts.  I know.  I don’t write often about me finishing books.  I read books sometimes how others read magazines, but that browsing method does not work with this book.  I’m seriously contemplating just starting it over from chapter 1, and getting all the stuff I missed the first time around.  I’m in the last chapter and not yet sick of this book.  I read slowly and intentionally, and yet it feels as though I just skimmed the surface.
14 years ago, as a Bible school student, I claimed that What’s So Amazing About Grace? was the most transformative book I had ever read besides the Bible.  I was blown away by the depth and breadth of the word “grace” that I had spoken so lightly in my church-going home.  Another book that blew me away in Bible school was The Knowledge of the Holy
.  I pretty much highlighted every line on every page.  It was kind of embarrassing.
As of now, One Thousand Gifts is right up there too.  You cannot read this book and not be changed.  It has been so timely in my life, it’s as though God set me up for it.
Linking up with Ginny this week.

September 4, 2013 at 1:37 pmYour embroidery is lovely. It’s something I’ve yet to master. What a great selection of books you recommend. I’m trying to do a bible study on my own as I can’t find a group here, maybe your book recommendations might help me.

September 4, 2013 at 1:41 pmBeautiful sweater and needle work. I’m off to add Nanook to my queue. 🙂 I have to say that while enjoyed aspects of 1000 Gifts, it just didn’t do it for me for various reasons. So many, many women just love that book, so I’ll keep my comments to myself about it… A book on grace that ranks in my top 10 books ever is Michael Horton’s Putting Amazing Back into Grace which of all things, I stumbled upon years and years ago at our local public library.
Blessings, ~Lisa

September 5, 2013 at 2:24 pmBeautiful cardigan. I really love the color and the stitch definition is excellent for the pattern – gorgeous.
I loved that book and return to it when I start to return to despondency and joyless living. It has buoyed me up and encouraged me in the Word over and over again this past year and a half. It really does help me deal with irritation, depression, whatever, to keep a list of the blessings I see. An active habit of lifting my eyes, perhaps.
