Well, Solveig is continuing to do fine. We’re excited about that. Elias seems to be having a temp in the evenings now, and so that makes me think we’re dealing with a virus. I know there’s not any great time to get sick, but honestly, this is not a great time. I’m hoping this is the last of this, and Elias will get over it faster than Solveig did, and that no one else will catch it. It’s going to be hard enough to leave the kids for our trip in less than 2 weeks. I’m not sure I could if they are sick. We could sure use your prayers in this way. I feel sort of guilty asking for prayers, as it seems to be selfish to ask that the kids are better so our life won’t be disrupted.
In other news ULTRASOUND day is upon us. Tomorrow morning (Thursday) Knut and I will be headed to our ultrasound to see how this little one is doing, and we DO plan on finding out the gender this time. We have 2 boys and 2 girls, and so that makes this baby a tie breaker. Want some clues as to what we think?
Well, Knut is leaning ever so slightly in the girl category. He normally does, though. He thinks I am more sick when I am carrying a girl but takes it to the extreme so that whenever I am remotely nauseous, he thinks it’s a girl. I was very sick in the beginning this time, but that could easily be due to the pregnancy in combination with 4 kids at home who did not think it was necessary to let me sleep all day. I find the less I rest, the worse I feel.
As for me, I’m leaning in the girl camp as well. It should be noted that I have only been correct in guessing the gender once and that was with Solveig. So odds are with you if you disagree with me. I think I’m just getting good at it just now. I’m at the beginning of a good streak. I think it’s a girl because of what I have been craving: fruit and chocolate, or better yet, fruit with chocolate. Whenever I have been pregnant with a girl, I cannot get enough fruit, and chocolate always settles my stomach. When it’s a boy, I crave more salty things, or salty mixed with sweet. (like chips with a tall glass of milk. That was always a favorite.)
What is different about this baby is we normally have 5+ girl names we love and 0-2 boy names that make the list. This time, we have agreed on only one girl name (although there’s one name I refuse to take off the list. Knut doesn’t hate it, but likes the other one more. I just love it.). As far as boy names, we have over 5 on our list this time!! Who knew? Our list normally changes from baby to baby, and there have been very few times that a name has made it to the list for 2 different kids. Don’t ask me why.
That doesn’t really matter, though, because we won’t announce the name officially until the baby is born. We reserve the right to change our minds before then. However, we hope to announce the gender tomorrow.
Any guesses?

August 2, 2012 at 3:13 pmI say boy, James says girl. So we’re a divided household here! Don’t know if I want to find out what your having now, since that means one of us is going to be wrong. 😉
Technically James said you were having a snort, but I informed him that wasn’t a viable option. (Ever read Are You My Mother?)
