Watch out. This blogger is about to go a bit picture crazy.
After 2 ebay auctions (the first ending with the seller saying “Oops, I forgot to set a reserve. You weren’t supposed to win that at that price.” That was an unpleasant experience.) I finally got my Canon 30d digital SLR camera. I’m very impressed with the mint condition this used camera is in. It comes with a bunch of sweet things. It’s heavier than I thought it would be.
I’ve wanted an SLR ever since I took a class in photography in high school…(ahem) 13 years ago. So with a bit of a rusty memory, I’m trying to remember all the cool things you can do with a camera like this.
It may take awhile to figure this out.
Fortunately, reading a manual is pretty easy to do while sitting and feeding a baby.
Right now there are about 200 pictures on here of whatever happens to be in front of the lens.
Now I have to get back on the ball with Nerdy Gerdy so I can save up for a photo editing software…
A new addiction is born.
Wow! I notice the clarity already. Good find!
Yay for you! Loving the new pics already. That baby is just beautiful. So PRETTY.
Google’s Picasa is actually really good editing software, and it’s FREE to download. I’ve been using Picasa for a couple years. This summer I finally bought Lightroom, which I’ve been wanting…but have yet to open the box and actually install it. :-/
Hi Gretchen,
I completely understand the joy in receiving a ‘New’ dSLR camera. It is a lot of fun to take picture after picture trying to remember what was learned from high school classes.
On our anniversary my husband completely blew me away with Canon EOS dSLR, that I had been asking for, for about 10yrs. I never imagined he would actually get me one. He bought it from friends that upgraded to a pro model in Canon. I now have a few books I’m reading on digital camera’s, considering taking a class and just playing around to figure it out. I did take a lot of photography classes in high school many moons ago. I love the sharpness and colour saturation that comes with the dSLR. I have my eye on two lenses and a different flash, but they’ll have to wait.
Have fun with your new ‘toy’!
Kelly
Photography is ALWAYS a fun thing to play with and to use! 🙂 You can use Picassa & Gimp for now while you are saving up for a new editing system. Also PSE (Photoshop Elements) isn’t a horrible amount of money and is a great tool for learning and editing on! Have fun with your photography. You will have fun with it BUT it can also be an expensive hobby also….once you realize that you want better low light pictures and such! Have fun!!
