My left arm has been hurting, unexplainably this last week. I’ve been taking whole days off of knitting, and only doing bits here and there this last week. Still, work on my “Rhubarb Cardigan” is moving along nicely, as I blogged about here.
Today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Our church does a few things for Lent. Mostly soup suppers and guest speakers, and I look forward to both every year. Last year I read all about Protestants celebrating Lent in the blog: aholyexperience.com and I was thinking that this year our family should be more intentional in preparing for Easter. One of the books I’m reading right now here and there as a devotional is The Spirituality of the Cross. It’s not too theologically difficult to wade through. It talks about Lent specifically from a Lutheran point of view, and was referred to it by Ann Voskamp, who is (I think) not Lutheran at all. Well, actually it’s from the point of view of not a professional theologian, but a literary professor who drifted from denomination to denomination, swinging between liberal and conservative faiths.
As my favorite person to quote: G.K. Chesterton says, “Let your religion be less of a theory and more of a love affair.” This book is not about the theory, but about the love affair. This book is not about theology, but rather the working out of theology. It’s very well done.
Linking up with Ginny’s Yarn Along. You can make some friends, and see what others are knitting and reading this week by heading on over there!
Psst…also, there’s a new pattern of mine coming out tomorrow. I’m just so excited about it. You can see it on Ravelry here, and come back tomorrow and I’ll have a post all about it. 🙂

March 5, 2014 at 3:23 pmCan’t wait to see the new pattern! Arm and hand pain are tough – I don’t like this “getting older” thing. I can’t imagine what my 50’s have in store for me! Resting should be helpful for you. Good luck.
