Yarn Along

Uncategorized

Well, I finished up the second skein of Quince’s “Owl” and I feel the need to pause this project and measure and recheck all the numbers.  Bottom up sweaters scare me like that.  What if I didn’t decrease enough?  What if it’s too fitted?  What if it’s not fitted enough?  Will the lace pattern on top even work?  What if it’s too long?  Sigh.  So I’m pausing until I can once again be confident.  Hopefully by tonight.

I haven’t been reading a lot, but when I have, it’s been paging through the new TaprootI magazine.  It’s a beautiful artistic lens on more of a homesteading life, and I’ve really been enjoying it.  I would love to submit something to them sometime, whether an article or poem or knitting pattern.  I’ve started brainstorming, though nothing has developed worthy of submitting yet.  It’s probably a long shot, but I’ve always had this idea of “why not?” that keeps coming to me.  It’s why I design.  It’s why I write, and submit things.  Why not?  At the very least it pushes me to do something with excellence, and that’s always a healthy exercise.

Linking up with Ginny again.

I love the color. I made one bottom up sweater for my 6 year old son. I had to rip it back because it was too big on him. At least it was just the body and it fit after that. I’ve been testing my gauge more since then. 🙂 It will be beautiful!

Oh, your comment about being pushed to excellence struck a little chord this morning… I will be chewing on that idea all day. I am finding that with adding blogging back into my life, I am enjoying writing a little bit again and feel my writing skill is a little sharpened – not that anything on my blog is noteworthy but the practice helps with the little bit of ministry writing I do each month. I will have to check out Taproot because it sounds really interesting.
