Yarn Giveaway

Uncategorized

WINNER!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO BROOKE!!

Brooke won this skein of yarn, and I’ll be in contact to get this delivered!  Hope you enjoy!!!

So, since I’m stash-busting, and trying to make room in my crafting space, I thought I’d part with one of my favorite types of yarn…at least cowl making yarn.  This stuff is so soft and lovely to have near sensitive skin like the neck and face.  It’s 100% baby alpaca, and one skein of this is all you need to make my brand new “Winter Butterfly Cowl.”  (You could get a standard sized Clara Cowl out of it too, if you like.)  If you don’t have knitting needles, or know how to knit, maybe you’d like to get it and just stroke it when you’re stressed out.  (Don’t judge).  It’s in this brown, gingerbready color, which is just so heavenly.  I have a winder and swift now, so if you want me to wind it up before I send it out to you, just say the word.

So, to win, you need to leave a comment.  In your comment, I’d like to hear what your favorite handmade go-to gift is, or what you’d love to receive as a handmade gift, etc.  It could be cookies, hats, bookshelves, whatever.  Let’s inspire each other to make some gifts this year.

I’ll randomly select a winner next Tuesday, and post who it was at the top of this very post.  Of course, I’ll try to contact the winner directly as well. Please be sure to leave your email or some sort of form to get ahold of you to let you know you won.  You wouldn’t believe how often people forget that part.  I’ll try to get it in the mail ASAP so you can whip up something before Christmas.  Please only enter if you live in the USA, as international shipping just isn’t in the budget at this point.

Oh I would love to win this so much. I love the color and I know this yarn is such a treat to work with. I’d love to make a cowl with it! My favorite go to gift ideas are knitted pocketbook slippers, knitted toys, and infinity scarves. Oh I love that yarn my fingers are crossed. And how nice of you to give it as a giveaway!

I’m making body scrubs and bath salts this year. Last year, (when my sewing machine was *functional*, I made pin cushions for some grown up ladies and crayon rolls (roll-up crayon holders) for little folks.

I like to knit toys to give away. I had five coworkers pregnant this year (six babies total) and I made stuffed animals and gave them along with books that seemed to go with them. I also knit toys to go with blankets I gave my nieces and nephew last Christmas.

Why thank you for stashbusting! 🙂 My favorite gift to work on this year has been corn warming bags for the bed! I am making 5 of them for different family. They are just cotton bags with corn in them- sewn into channels. I am going to cut up some wool sweaters to make a pouch to put each one in. Should be toasty! cristy_curuncha AT hotmail DOT com

I love to knit socks and hats for Christmas presents, but have never made a cowl before!

    (I hope it works now!)

I couldn’t resist the temptation! Yarn is always so wonderful to receive.

For some reason, I always end up making and giving fingerless mittens/gloves! I’m not really sure why, except that everyone always seems to think they’re the best thing since sliced bread 🙂

Yes, no judging on the the stroking of the super soft alpaca yarn. Something that I do when I walk through all of my favorite yarn shops. 🙂

I LOVE consumable gifts!! Things that don’t just sit around, and something that comes from the heart. I love giving scone jars! The recipe that I have uses only cream as the wet ingredients, so great that you don’t need lots of stuff on hand to make them. And you can make them any flavor you like.

Dreaming of making your new cowl! My only request would be with your free patterns is if they were in an easy pdf to save on my computer and to print. 🙂

Don’t enter me in the giveaway as I am Canadian, but I thought I would add my favourite home-made gifts. I always bake cookie trays or a variety of mini loaves for the teachers. My boys always get a knit item tucked into their stockings – socks, slippers, hats. My favourite gift I received was the year my father in law built me some shaker boxes. He had to build a steam box to make just that one project. Knowing the time he put into that project makes it very special.

for quick gifts, I tend toward smaller items like hats and of course, scarves and cowls!! I try my best to make handmade gifts for the people who are closest to me– not everyone appreciates the effort! I would so love to win this, as I’ve only worked with alpaca once before– it was absolutely amazing!

I love to give gifts that have not been explicitly asked for. This means a lovely rose for my mom for Valentine’s day, or a special coffee gift card for a sister-in-law. I love to give little handmade treats, in the food department, to friends. One year I did spiced nuts, another year biscotti, and this year will be homemade chai mix.

You can email me, if I win. Hoping!

I make scarves as my go to gift. IN particular I make a particular pattern scarf that has short rows and is wavy. It usually goes over quite well with the ladies. But for a man I make a seed stitch scarf.

This year I’m knitting a small thing for each grown child (6), 3 spouses, and 3 grandchildren. For the adults I’m making fingerless mitts, for the two granddaughters, leg warmers, and not sure yet what to make for my grandson. Love being able to wrap them in tangible love!

Beautiful yarn! I’ve often squished a skein of this at my LYS. For adult gifts I love making fingerless gloves, of any variety. For baby gifts I enjoy crocheted afghans, knitted newborn sweaters and tiny sets of knitted socks. Knitting gifts is my favorite sort of knitting 🙂
