Sassy Pfaffy, that is. Poor girl. I had been sewing hard every day for days. It wasn’t just easy sewing like piecing a quilt top or something. It was thick diapers with multiple, slippery layers, and maneuvering over and around snaps. If she were a car, it would be off road work. Yesterday was the last night of the stash game, and I had until midnight to pull in any more points, and I was set on finishing my sister’s twin diapers. There were only 8 left.
I had finished cutting and snapping, and was about to sew in the internal soakers, when the needle broke with a snap, and flew into the air. (Then it flew right back down because it was still attached to the thread.) I looked at her, concerned, and saw that the mechanism allowing her to move side to side in the zig zag stitch was broken, and her needle was stuck in the far left position. It wasn’t over the hole that the needle grabbed the bobbin thread in, and thus the needle hit the metal plate instead. I have more needles, but I can’t get the needle position to return over the hole. Have I lost you yet?
It looks like Sassy is requesting another spa day at the “Sew and Vac”. And I’ve heard murmurings that the machines are organizing a union. I’m hoping to nip that in the bud before my serger shows up.
Listen well, because this is important–This is why I have a back up machine!
Now, my back up one, who now really needs a name, isn’t one I feel comfortable sewing diapers with. At least, not yet. I need to get to know her better first, and see how she does. But I’m sure you’re all relieved that I have this back up machine so I can finish the giveaway tomorrow.
The giveaway, you say?
Yes. My first blog giveaway. And it’s good. It’s almost done too. I just need to add the straps. That’s a clue…right?
And although this giveaway is going to land the same week as my blogiversary, it is not limited to my blog. I’d like to encourage all of my readers who have a few moments tomorrow to check out the big Sew Mama Sew giveaway on their blog starting tomorrow morning. All the giveaways will either be a handmade item, or crafting supplies. Last year I spent over an hour entering blog giveaways. I got through maybe half of them. There were a ton!
So if you haven’t figured out how to leave a comment on the here yet, now is the time to find out!
Before I leave you, though, I’ll give you one more peek:

Just for a heads up, I’m told I am able to decide on how the winner of my giveaway will be decided. (Random or best answer to a question…etc.) I have already decided the question I will ask, and have given a clue already in this post. It will not be a random drawing. It’s not a trivia question…it’s a creative one. So be sure to wake up tomorrow with your creative jucies flowing. You’re gonna need it. If there is more than one winner (as in they posted the same answer) the person who posted it first will be the winner.

December 9, 2009 at 8:53 pmI think the sewing machines are rising up against us. I turned in my Husky today for some much needed attention. Sadly, he was marked “Loved” on the condition\description part of the service form. 🙂
