Most of you know that we use cloth diapers on our kids, and some more of you might even know that I sewed diapers for Elias, which are working great, by the way. I learned so much about diaper sewing from a lovely group of ladies on the internet who call themselves the diaper sewing divas. I’m quite out of their league as far as creativity and sewing ability goes, but they have become some good online friends (I feel so hip for having online friends) and they threw me a diaper shower after Elias was born. Some of these things were from trades I worked with them for wool baby pants that I knitted, and some were just sent for fun. Anyway, I thought I’d share some pictures, because to me, these are so much fun!
This is an ooga booga set that I just got in the mail today. There are 2 one sized fitted diaper and one size cover with matching shoes. The ooga booga fabric is very sought after in the diaper sewing community, so I’m so amazed I got something made from that fabric.
They’re called one sized because they’re supposed to fit from about 10 lbs (it says 8, but I would say 10) to past David’s size, so they should last awhile.
The inside is made from organic bamboo velour, which is super soft, and she put in snap in soakers so they will dry faster in the wash. I wish you could feel this. Knut said that after wearing these diapers, Elias won’t want his butt to touch flannel, or some other cheap fabric that I use for diaper making.
Here are some more things sent to me…2 diaper covers with embroidery on them, a homemade outfit, and some homemade pants that have a large enough butt to fit over cloth nicely.
The x-small cover has “Hi, I’m new here” embroidered on it, and the small cover has “Uff da!” embroidered on it, and she purposefully made that one the colors of the norwegian flag. How sweet is that.
Here’s the little sleeper close up.
Knut gets a pretty good laugh that it made my day to get ooga booga diapers with bamboo velour inners in the mail today, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
O by the way, the next post is from today too, so read on!
