Today is my favorite day of the month. It’s the day that Calvary Lutheran Church puts on “a little break” where I get to drop off my kids for a mini preschool for two and a half hours. It’s free, and unfortunately, once a month. Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids, but reading my new knitting books (from the library) at my favorite coffee shop in town in peace and quiet, is unbeatable. I was interrupted by Knut once, as he was also in town running errands, and was wondering, since I was just hanging out and doing nothing, if I could help him with a few of his errands. It really didn’t take too long, but my peace was cut short.
I’m also happy today because my first round of ebay auctions just finished, and I made about $25 off of junk around my house. Not only do we have less to move in a few weeks, but I made some money in the process.
That’s right…we are moving in a few weeks. This is still uncertain, but my in-laws think they will be moving out the third week on March, leaving us the last week to move. That’s a week earlier than I expected, and I hope everything will work out like we hope it will. I’ve been trying to plan my vegetable garden that I’ll do this year, but I keep getting distracted by all these crafts! I’m still working on Silje’s grandmother’s flower garden quilt, which is all hand stitched, and than I’m almost done with a simple knotted quilt for Knut’s and my new room in the new house. I still have to paint one more dresser before we move, and I haven’t even started packing! I still think the house will feel empty when we move in. That doesn’t scare me though, because I know the kids will use every corner of it! I am worried that the empty rooms will just become toy dumping piles, so I’ve been trying to brainstorm rules for the toys, or organizational systems. A good start would be a toy box, which I have been begging for some time now!
This weekend I introduced Silje to “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” one of our favorite classics. After the ballet scene when they sing “O they say when you marry in June…” she sighed, and looked at me and said “Mommy, will I ever get married?” “O I’m sure you will, Silje.” “Yes, but when?” “Well, you have to wait until you’re a grown up.” She gasped and her eyes got big. “But that’s the longest wait of all!”
That’s what’s going on with us today!
